30 September, 1, 2 October
The 2005 Reunion was held on the weekend of 30 September to 2 October at the Holiday Inn, York. The event was very well attended, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. We met on the Friday in the bar (where else) and then had an informal dinner in the hotel in the evening. On Saturday there was an opportunity to go sight-seeing and shopping in the historic city of York before putting on our ‘glad rags’ for the main event—the Reunion dinner.
We were very pleased to welcome George and Mary Brown, Niall and Sandra Thomas, and John and Carol Newnham (who had come all the way from Canada) to their first 89th Reunion.
We had an area of the dining room allocated to us and a disco to dance to after the meal. Once the music stopped, the stalwarts retired to the bar for a nightcap (or few) before returning to their rooms for a few hours sleep. We then held the Annual General Meeting on the Sunday morning. All too soon it was time to bid farewell to our friends and to look forward to next year’s Reunion in Perth, Scotland.
Our thanks go to Gerry Klippel, assisted by Alex Hatherall, for organising an excellent Reunion.
