Reunion 2009 – Southport

23, 24 and 25 October 2009

Bill Butlin

Bill Butlin organised our reunion weekend at Southport. The reunion was held on the weekend of 23, 24, 25 October at the Royal Clifton Hotel.

Forty-one  members and wives attended the reunion. As usual we all met in the hotel bar on the Friday. On Saturday there was plenty to do and see in Southport, including the pier and of course shopping for the girls.  The pier was interesting, it was quite long, the first half of it being over land, and a tram was in operation for those who were either unable or too lazy to walk.  When we got to the end, the tide was out and we could not see the sea as this is part of the coast where the fall-off is very shallow, much like Morecombe Bay further to the north.

On Saturday evening, dressed in our finery, we held our annual dinner where we wined and dined until after midnight.  We were entertained by a couple of musicians who kept the tempo in keeping with our advancing years.

Well done Bill, and many thanks for a very successful reunion.
