8, 9 and 10 October 2010
The 2010 89th Entry Reunion was held at Newquay, Cornwall on the weekend of 8th, 9th and 10th of October 2010. John Turner organised this event and forty-four members and wives attended the Reunion at the Porth Veor Manor Hotel, Porth.
Those arriving early on the Thursday were invited to a reception at John’s and Maria’s lovely home in the Cornish outback. It is miles from civilisation and Paul and Veronica Sweetman never found the house, despite phone calls to John for directions and help from the locals. Ken Coburn only found the house because his wife, Marlene, was paying attention to John’s written directions and not the satellite navigation in his car which was taking them about half a mile from the house.
We were warmly welcomed and well fed on food and drink, which included the traditional Cornish pasty and scones with clotted cream. The photograph below shows just a few of the attendees: Alex Hatherall, John Baker, Mick Mepham and John Turner (in the 89th Entry tee shirt). Linda Moseley is on the far right.
The Reunion Dinner started as usual with a call to the hotel bar. After a couple of drinks we entered the dining room and we had the pleasure of welcoming Peter and Chris Limburn to their first (and hopefully not last) Reunion event.
Although this was not a dinner-dance, Johnny found time to play some music which got some of the members on their feet.
A short AGM was held on the Sunday morning prior to saying our farewells.
